Attack: Ex-Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Soludo is safe, reveals Anambra Police boss

 

Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Monday Kuryas, has revealed that a former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, was safe.

The police chief made the disclosure while appearing on a programme on Channels Television.

The revelation follows an attack on Soludo on Wednesday in his hometown of Isiofia under Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State by some armed men, who killed three of his police orderlies.

Kuryas, who disclosed that Soludo was unharmed, explained that Commissioner for Public Utilities in the state, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne, was taken away by the invading gunmen.

He said, “The former CBN governor was holding a town hall meeting with the youth of his community called Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, suddenly gunmen attacked my men that were providing security for him. In the exchange of fire, three of my men were killed but the professor is safe.

“However, the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, was abducted in the process and my men are on the heels of the abductors.”

Soludo is a leading candidate for the November 6 governorship election in Anambra under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
