Ekiti monarchs reject government’s ceding of land for ranching

The Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers has denied that there was a plan by the state government to cede portions of land to some people for ranching and grazing.

In a statement by Chief Ajibade Olubunmi, Media Adviser to Oba Adebanji Alabi, the Alawe of Ilawe and Chairman of the council, the monarchs said news of such arrangement taking place was untrue.

Oba Alabi was reacting to a statement by the Olomuo-Oke of Omuo-Oke, Oba Vincent Otitoju, Onikun of Ikun Amure Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola and other traditional rulers, who had contrary claims.

According to the Alawe, members of the council shall be properly briefed during their next meeting later in April.
