Nigerian Air Force jet disappears after losing contact with radar in Borno

 

A Nigerian Air Force Alpha-Jet has lost contact with radar in Borno State while on interdiction mission in support of ground troops, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

In a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet on Thursday, the mission was part of ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the country’s North-East region.

Gabkwet disclosed that the loss of radar contact occurred at about 5:08 pm on Wednesday, adding that details of the present location of the aircraft or likely cause of contact loss was still sketchy at the moment.

Search for the missing aircraft is currently ongoing, according to the Nigerian Air Force.
