Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has knocked the Nigerian Government over the rehabilitation of bandits and insurgents.
The IPOB leader termed President Muhammadu Buhari a “Fulanised” President, saying that if bandits and terrorists could be freed from prison and rehabilitated, then nobody deserved to still be incarcerated.
Kanu made the comments in a Twitter post on Monday morning.
He said, “If Miyetti Allah terror herdsmen and other murderous Fulani groups including Boko Haram insurgents can be arrested, freed and rehabilitated by this neo-colonial Fulanised @NGRPresident, then no single soul deserves to be in any prison in Nigeria. If you know you know.”
This tweet comes as over 2,000 inmates at a federal prison in Owerri, Imo State, were set free by some gunmen on Monday morning.
The gunmen also attacked the State Criminal Investigation Department and freed some suspects there.
Multiple reports stated that the attackers freed all suspects in almost all the cells at the SCID.
They were also said to have committed arson, setting fire to vehicles parked at the command headquarters.
The attack happened on Monday morning from 1:00am and lasted for about two hours.
This is the fifth attack on police headquarters in Imo State after four in February alone.
Spokesperson for the police in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident.
