The Presidency has confirmed the earlier reported robbery attack on the premises of the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on Monday morning.

It was earlier reported that a gang of armed robbers attacked the homes of Agboola Gambari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, and an admin officer, Abubakar Maikano, in the premises of the Presidential Villa.

Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, has confirmed via his official Twitter account that there was an attack on Gambari’s residence, although they downplayed the robbery as a “foolish attempt”.

He said, “The Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, has confirmed that there ‘was a foolish attempt’ to burgle his residence at 3:00am this morning, but it turned out to be unsuccessful.

“Professor Gambari, whose house is on a street next to the Villa, has assured that there is nothing to worry about from the incident.”

Shehu added that there was an unsuccessful attempt to burgle the house of Maikano earlier this week, adding that the police are currently investigating the matter.

“The police, in a related development, is searching for a suspected burglar who, as captured by CCTV, unsuccessfully attempted to break into the house of Maikano last Thursday.
