The prices of root and tuber crops like yam and Irish potatoes have gone up in some markets in Federal Capital Territory Abuja ahead of the Sallah celebration.
According to a market survey conducted by NAN, yam tubers prices have risen by 80-100 per cent from between N3,000 for a set of five tubers to about N6000 on Wednesday in Abuja.
Ibrahim, a market seller, said that a piece of yam is now sold for N1,200 or N1,000 from the old price of N500.
Adamu Suleiman, a potato seller at Nyanya Market, also confirmed that Irish potatoes have also increased in price just this week.
