The evicted Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Saliu Abdulkadir, has denied reports suggesting that he was responsible for the attack on Igangan community in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state.

The Fulani leader was evicted from the area about four months ago and was subsequently accused by Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Adeoye, of perpetrating the attacks on the community.

However, Abdulkadir has stated that he had nothing to do with the attack, insisting that the government and security agencies are supposed to offer more protection to the communities.

According to the Seriki, many herders also suffered casualties during the attack, adding that a Fulani man, who was neither a cattle rearer nor trader and lived in Igangan since the 1960s was killed on Monday in reprisal attacks on several Fulani settlements.

He blamed the attack on the failure of security agencies and called on them to go after perpetrators of the attack.
