President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, a broadcaster, as the substantive Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced the appointment in a statement in Abuja on Friday.
He said Ilelah’s appointment was for a tenure of five years in the first instance.
Ilelah takes over from Prof Armstrong Idachaba as DG of the agency.
The statement did not indicate whether Idachaba, who had been acting as DG since February 2020 following the suspension of Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, had been retired.
