Gunmen kidnap scores of students in Kaduna

Suspected bandits have reportedly stormed Bethel Secondary School, Maramara Chickun Local Government Area of Kaduna State and kidnapped scores of students.

The gunmen attacked the boarding school located on the outskirts of Kaduna on Monday morning.

According to Daniel Muhuta, a security guard, who was said to have witnessed the abduction, the bandit struck very early and was shooting sporadically before kidnapping the students.

He said, “I escaped narrowly. They came around 1:00am and started shooting. I was at the back of the school dormitory when I heard shooting and decided to lay down.”

It was gathered that security officials were already at the scene and have cordoned off the area.

Also, anxious parents and relatives of students have flocked to the school’s main entrance to ascertain the situation of their children and relations.

Kaduna State Police spokesperson, ASP Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached to confirm the situation at the school.
