Nnamdi Kanu won’t get fair trial, lawyer says

By Henry Okonkwo

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has expressed doubt that his client may not get a fair hearing in his trial.

Ejiofor said this on Monday during a television interview.

He said, “My client was illegally held in Kenya for eight days and to show the level of government conspiracy and desperation to jail him by any means, they brought him into the country on Sunday and took him to court on Tuesday without informing me.

“This shows that there was a collaboration between the government and the court.

“Because if there was transparency, the government should have informed me that my client would be arraigned on Tuesday. So that I can come and see my client, and inquire what happened.

“So by this collaboration, it is clear to see that I won’t get a fair trial from the court.”

Ejiofor further disclosed that his client was being subjected to mental torture.

Kanu is currently in DSS custody following an order by an Abuja Federal High Court.

The Justice Binta Nyako-led court gave the order following Kanu’s arrest and repatriation by the Nigerian Government.
