The government of Lagos State has begun sensitisation against eye diseases among its residents with focus on glaucoma.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi made this known in a statement on Tuesday evening.

Abayomi said : “anyone may develop glaucoma, but the incidence increases with age.”
He added that about 1 in every 10,000 babies are born with glaucoma, and that by age 40 about 1 in 200 adults have glaucoma, rising the tally to 1 in 8 at age 80.
“However,” said Abayomi, “some people have a higher risk of developing glaucoma.”
