The Lagos State University main campus, Ojo, has taken delivery of a brand new 500KV transformer on Monday.

It was donated by the Ojo Local Government for the improvement of electricity in the university, especially at the staff-quarters.

The transformer was presented by Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Rosulu Olusola Idowu, an alumnus of the university, who came in company with the council Secretary, Mr. Sikiru Lawal, a former employee of the university as well as alumnus of the school.

While receiving the team, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Oyedamola Oke, expressed his appreciation for the gesture and called for better relationship with the third tier of government.

“When you are offered something good, you recieve it with open arms.

“Donating this transformer to us is an indication that you have our interest at heart. On behalf of the staff, students and the entire university community, I thank you for the donation.

“I also want to add that we will always come back to you our host to ask for more. We will also be glad to have you participate more in our programmes.”

On his part, Hon. Idowu, said the donation was a dividend of democracy to the university.

He said, “LASU is part of us and the only higher institution we have in the local government. Doing this shows our sense of belonging as a partner in progress and it’s our way of giving the dividends of democracy to the institution.

“We have started and I assure that more of this will be coming because our aim is to have our names etched in the history of the institution.

“As has been requested, we will be more committed to the university’s programmes just as we will continue to be good partners in her progress.”
