The Imo State Government ordered the closure of all banks along Bank Road, Owerri, leaving hundreds of bank customers stranded.
According to reports, the banks sealed were those that failed to open on Monday, a day states in South East hold a sit-at-home in protest for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra currently remanded by the Department of State Services.
Some of the banks that were sealed by the state government were Access, Polaris, First Bank, Eco Bank, and United Bank for Africa. The bank staff told The PUNCH that operatives of the Owerri Capital Development Authority sealed the banks.
However, some government officials claimed that the banks were sealed because of building approval plans.
