EFCC arrest shows joining APC didn’t give me immunity – Fani-Kayode

A former Minister of Aviation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, said on Wednesday his joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) did not give him immunity.

He said this following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday.

The ex-minister was grilled for over six hours by the anti-graft agency for alleged forgery and manipulation of documents.

After his release on Tuesday night, Fani-Kayode-Kayode said he was not arrested but rather invited by the EFCC.

Many Nigerians who felt slighted by his comment persuaded him not to use euphemism to describe his ordeal in the hands of the EFCC.

The ex-minister shot back at his critics on Wednesday, tweeting that even if he was arrested, it only shows that he is not above the law, and that joining the ruling party didn’t grant him immunity.

“I pity those that said I was arrested. They are filled with hate & live on fake news. Since when did an invitation & a friendly chat become an arrest? And even if I had been arrested, SO WHAT? I am not above the law & neither does joining APC give me immunity. My God is MIGHTY!” he wrote.
