Ogun court jails SSS 3 student for threatening to kill teacher

A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ayetoro, in the Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Thursday, sentenced a 20-year-old secondary school student, Segun Dosumu, to three weeks’ imprisonment for threatening to kill his teacher.

Dosumu, who resided in the Iboro area of the state, had pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The police prosecutor, ASP Wale Diyaolu, subsequently urged the court to convict him.

The Magistrate, Mr S. S. Sotayo, said aside from the admission of guilt, all the evidence presented before the court proved beyond reasonable doubt that the convict was guilty as charged.

The magistrate, therefore, sentenced Dosumu to three weeks in the custodial centre with hard labour with a fine option of N200,000.

Earlier, while reviewing the facts of the case, Diyaolu said the defendant committed the offence on November 23 around 9am at the Eyinni Comprehensive High School, Iboro, Yewa North, Ogun State.

Diyaolu said the convict, an SSS 3 student of the school, threatened to kill or injure his teacher, Mr Ismail Fadeyi, with a bottle.

He noted that the offence contravened Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun 2006.
