Benson began his meteoric rise to stardom in July 2019 after collaborating with Nigerian Afrobeat star Zlatan on his hit single ‘Spiritual’ which catapulted the artiste to the limelight. Since then, the Afro-fusion artiste has risen to prominence with chart-topping features, mixtapes and singles.
Earier this year, Benson, formerly known as Buju, changed his stage name to BNXN. The announcement generated mixed reactions among Nigerian music lovers.
“It’s no longer ‘Buju’. Call me ‘Benson’ written as ‘BNXN’,” the announcement read.
According to him, the name change became necessary after the singer was mistaken for another Jamaican singer known as Buju Banton.
