Zamfara bandits collect N6.5m, release remaining 12 of 85 abductees

Bandits who kidnapped 85 people at Wanzamai community in Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State have freed the 12 hostages in their custody. However, the oldest person among the kidnapped victims was killed.

One of the villagers, Ibrahim Mai Nasara, told journalists the abductors had freed the remaining 12 abductees and killed one on Wednesday after collecting an additional N500,000 from the villagers.

“Yes, the remaining 12 kidnapped victims came back home on Wednesday night without Samaila Garba, the oldest person among them. Even though the community was happy, the death of Samaila Garba really touched us.

He affirmed that the villagers had already buried his body on Thursday according to Islamic injunction.

Recall that the bandits had kidnapped 85 people in the Wanzamai community; 74 of them were released, while the remaining 12 were held hostage.
