Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will travel to Hiroshima, Japan to attend the G7 summit in person, according to an official familiar with the planning.

Kyiv’s long-anticipated counteroffensive appears imminent as the Ukrainian military says it has made gains along the front lines in recent days. But there’s speculation the counteroffensive may have already started.

Ukraine said its air defences intercepted 29 out of 30 cruise missiles launched by Russia overnight into Thursday. One person was killed in Odesa.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration made an accounting error in assessing the value of military support the US has given to Ukraine, freeing up about $3 billion more in aid.
